Kim’s work is rooted in the belief that true wellness happens when people feel safe, supported, and deeply seen. With a professional background in social work, she began her career helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, empathy, and a whole-person perspective. This foundation continues to shape the heart of her work today, informing the way she creates inclusive spaces for healing, connection, and growth.
Since 2005, Kim has been serving clients as a licensed massage therapist, offering therapeutic bodywork that helps relieve pain, reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and restore balance. Her approach is intuitive, client-focused, and deeply restorative, blending skilled touch with presence and care to meet each person’s unique needs.

In 2021, she expanded her offerings to include yoga, bringing mindful movement, breathwork, and body awareness into her healing practice. Her classes are known for being gentle, accessible, and welcoming to all bodies, with an emphasis on helping students build strength, find ease, and reconnect with themselves in a meaningful way.

Drawing from her backgrounds in social work, massage therapy, and yoga, Kim offers a holistic wellness experience that honors the connection between mind, body, and spirit. Whether working one-on-one with clients and private students, guiding group classes, or creating community-centered wellness experiences, her mission is to help others feel grounded, empowered, and at home within themselves.

Harini Balachandar believes that making a difference in the digital age often requires the strategic application of professional expertise behind the scenes. While traditional, in-person volunteering is vital, Harini recognizes that for sensitive causes, such as those involving vulnerable children, direct contact is appropriately restricted. In these spaces, she advocates for skill-based volunteering as a practical way to support systemic change and organizational stability.

A recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Bronze), her work focuses on ensuring that technical rigor serves as a reliable foundation for advocacy. While partnering with an India-based non-profit, she applied design thinking principles to help solve complex data storytelling challenges. Beyond the technical scope, she sought to support human connection by sharing career opportunity awareness with young girls, helping them envision a broader range of possibilities for their futures.

Since 2023, Harini has supported A Child’s Light (ACL) by focusing on the organization’s operational backbone. By introducing tools like Google Workspace and Monday.com, she helped streamline administrative tasks and grant management systems, allowing the team to keep their primary focus on the children they serve. Between 2024 and 2025, she collaborated with RSVP to help establish formal by-laws to provide a clear framework for the organization’s future. Serving as Board Chair in 2025, she facilitated the organization’s first board retreat to encourage a culture of shared ownership. From assisting with the Steps of Light Walk to leveraging digital platforms, Harini’s goal is to demonstrate how professional skills can be repurposed to provide long-term, sustainable support for non-profit missions.

She continues to contribute wherever possible to amplify the visibility of A Child’s Light and its mission. Harini believes that meaningful support can take many forms even a simple like, share, or comment can help expand awareness, strengthen community engagement, and bring the organization closer to reaching more children in need
