Sara Getchell, Mortgage Advisor at Whitecap Mortgage
2024 Business Woman of the Year
Sara has been a local mortgage broker serving Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland for the last eight years. She works for a small family run company, Whitecap Mortgage, a business where community, integrity and honesty are what drives them every day.
Sara is the secretary and events chair for Arts Holding Hands and Hearts(AHHAH), a non-profit serving Chester County’s youth and families through literacy, mindfulness and the arts.
Sara’s husband, Nate, and their two children Nora and Ben are constant sources of support as she is often on the phone, in meetings and stepping away to take care of her clients and partners. In her free time, Sara enjoys yoga, movie night snuggles, walks and hikes, concerts, singing and dancing in living rooms, and going to the theatre.
Sara joined the WBC in 2017, and has formed several close friendships with incredible women in the organization. These women leaders and lifelong friends have not only helped Sara grow in business, but also supported her with care, confidence and creativity, all aspects essential to being successful in business and life.
Jennifer Langlois
2024 Volunteer of the Year
A Haven is proud to honor Jen Langlois as Volunteer of the Year. Jen was new to A Haven’s volunteer team this year, but her enthusiasm, breadth of skills and dedication to our mission has already made a lasting impact. Jen has directly supported grieving kids and families this year in our onsite family groups and our school groups for grieving students, and she has also supported A Haven behind the scenes by planning Family Socials and by serving as a member of our Development Committee.
Jen taught in Delaware County schools and then spent many happy years at home in Malvern with her children. During that time, she volunteered for several organizations until an opportunity opened at their church for a director of ministries for children and families. That position allowed Jen to focus her energy and her heart toward building relationships with families, teaching, planning programs, sharing creativity and connecting folks across generations. Through that job, Jen met three families who came to lose a parent. Through their positive experiences with A Haven, she learned about A Haven’s mission and services.
Jen and her husband are recently retired. Their son and daughter-in-law live and work in central Pennsylvania. Their daughter is a recent college graduate, ready to pursue her master’s degree. Transitioning to an “empty nest” at home, Jen sought out A Haven’s nest to offer service, to connect with families and to use her teacher skills. She says, “I am so very honored to partner with staff and other volunteers and to spend time with families during such a vulnerable time. I look forward to continuing to grow in my involvement with A Haven and tell everyone I can about their mission!”
We’re so grateful for Jen and are honored to present her with this recognition!
